MAT
We recognise and support the needs of our MAT children through a variety of learning strategies and extra-curricular enrichment experiences. As well as working closely with with the EAS as a MAT network school, we have received the NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) 'Challenge Award' re-accreditation in 2022.
An example of the school strategies that challenge MAT pupil are:
- Extension and enhancement activities (eg. creative projects)
- Include pupil voice and interests in planning
- Adopt problem solving and entrepreneurship approaches
- Use of MAT pupils as tutors
- Praise and celebrate the achievements of MAT pupils
- Provide regular performance and competition opportunities (eg. sports, music, writing, reading, maths, dance and art)
- Use of the wider community to enrich experiences including educational visits, residential courses and use of the public library and art gallery
- Invite experts to stimulate and broaden horizons for ambitious careers
- Provide additional activities for year 6 MAT pupils on their transition to Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni (eg. STEM, modern foreign languages and numeracy).
